Nathaniel Broadus

Nathaniel Broadus is currently a crew leader for the green infrastructure nonprofit Landforce, as well as a senior political science student at Point Park University.  He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was deployed in 2011 in support of Operation Infinite Freedom. Upon returning to the civilian sector, he has decided to dedicate his time to serving the young people of Pittsburgh. He has served as a volunteer coach, a mentor, designed innovative youth summer programming, and is currently engaged in helping the formerly incarcerated gain new skills to help reintegrate into the workforce. As a mentor with the Negro Emergency Educational Drive (NEED),he has a mission to recruit young black men to mentor. Working with the young people of the Youth Green Corps with the Learn and Earn Program (Pittsburgh’s Summer Youth Employment program), he was given a chance to train teens to work with younger children and teach them healthy habits!

When he isn’t am not working,  he is writing the next chapter of his comic book “The POLICE STATE Saga”.  POLICE STATE is a social commentary on police brutality, police militarization, urban crime and social inequity. The book has gained readership around the country, and as far abroad as Russia.  His other creative project,”The Last Gunfighter” is an exploration of veteran’s issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, mental illness, and homelessness.
